I will remember

It's your birthday.

I'm supposed to be saying how old I feel now that both of my kids are in their 30s. How I don't know where the time has gone and I wish you'd be that spunky little curly haired kid that could just stay little forever.

But, today, I just wish I could sing you happy birthday and tell you I love you. I wish we could go to Vietnamese food in the shady part of town because you insist it's better than the place by Target.

Today, I will let Bubba, eat an entire cupcake, because you would tell me it's ridiculous that he can't eat the whole thing, besides, it's your birthday, so you get to make the rules.

Today, I will remember the day you were born and your first birthday and your 2nd and 3rd and 4th and 16th and 21st and every single moment I loved being your mom. Today, I will beg the memories to stay fresh and never let me forget a single second.

To my baby, happy birthday. I loved being your mom, even when you were stubborn and demanded it be done only your way. I loved your beautiful face and wild personality. I loved every part of you and am so blessed to have been your mom. I hope you always knew that.

Love you forever, Mom
